planning for the week ahead

I’ve found over time that setting some goals for my week has really helped me to stay on track as the week wears on. Sure, on Monday I’m all gung-ho for fitting everything in but without a plan by Thursday, I’m eating cookies for breakfast and napping after work instead of working out.  You know.. the whole “Fail to plan, plan to fail” thing? I’m the poster child.

So, here’s the plan for this week:

Meals 

I won’t bore you with a detailed plan here of every snack, ounce of water and vitamin but here are my dinner and lunch leftover plans for the week:

Monday: Maple Stuffed Sweet Potatoes from Healthy.Happy.Life

Tuesday: Cranberry Spinach Chickpea Patties from the Tone It Up Nutrition Plan

Wednesday: Baked Spaghetti Squash and Cheese from Skinny Taste

Thursday: Egg Scrambles & Sweet Potato Fries (My husband and I do breakfast for dinner every Thursday night. I look forward to this like you wouldn’t believe).

Friday: Vegetarian Pumpkin Chili from the Tone It Up Nutrition Plan

All in all, it looks like it’s going to be a pretty tasty week around here. I’m also planning on making a few other awesome treats including this Sweet Potato Protein Shake and this Pumpkin Pie Green Smoothie. As you can see, I’m in full on Fall foods mode.

Workouts

Disclaimer: I don’t “do” yoga. I actually usually really dislike  disliked yoga. After years of ballet I get into a yoga class and start to hyper focus on how much more flexible I was once upon a time and then get really weird and competitive with myself. There’s nothing relaxing about that. So, I haven’t been to yoga in years. Alas, I decided to give hot yoga a try yesterday. I must have mellowed out in the past few years because I didn’t hate it … at all! In fact, I really, really liked it! Anyway, the studio I went to offered a new student week package so, there will be lots of yoga happening in the next 6 days.

Monday: Dumbbells, Smart Arms & Prana 2 Music (This is a heated yoga class to tunes.. hopefully sweet tunes)

Tuesday:  5(ish) mile early morning run & Relax and Renew Yoga

Wednesday: The Sexy Leg Workout (…even though doing jumping jacks in public is my nightmare..I flail) and Tone It Up’s Sleek and Slender Abs Routine 

Thursday: Another 5(ish) mile early morning run  & AcroYoga (How fun does this sound?)

Friday:  The 99 Workout & Prana 2 Music

Miscellaneous Goals

Juice every day: I managed to do this last week and I felt amazing!

Get to bed at a reasonable time each night.

  1. I like having a plan for what to eat each week, but I’m one of those people who if you try to control too much I kind of start resenting not being spontaneous and sort of go downhill

    • I hear that! I try to at least keep things flexible enough so that if I’m feeling especially lazy one day I can move the meals around and cook whatever is easiest. I also usually throw a “wild card” night into the mix but we ate out a lot over the weekend. Oops
